The long-term objective of this research proposal is to develop a physiologically based, valid, reliable and effective assessment for detecting sincerity of effort. The specific aims of the present proposal are: (1) to examine if the slopes of the force-time curve are valid, reliable, and effective in detecting maximal effort in people with cumulative trauma disorders of the upper extremity and (2) to explore how pain affects these slopes.
