Organizational Function and Responsibilities:

This position instructs adult students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at the vocational, associate degree and college transfer credit levels. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.


This position reports to the Associate Dean at the School of Health Education.

Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.


1. Responsible for instruction in the (Occupational Therapy Assistant Program) including but not limited to the following courses: Pediatrics and Assistive Technology and Adaptations.


2. Plans, develops and implements instruction in assigned courses.


3. Assists and advises students who have questions with assignments, tests, grades and/or course content.


4. Evaluates student performance in courses taught by the instructor.


5. Develops and maintains curriculum in collaboration with OTA program faculty.


6. Complies with college policies and procedures regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and course advising, etc.


7. Maintains certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.


8. Complies with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.


9. Attends school, program and advisory committee meetings.


10. Designs curriculum, including but not limited to multicultural infusion, and instruct in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student and program needs.


11. Demonstrates a commitment to the college mission, vision and values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability.


2. Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods to deliver high-quality instruction (i.e., online, hybrid, and accelerated course formats, course software such as Blackboard, video, Telepresence, etc).


3. Skilled in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and persons with physical and/or learning disabilities.


4. Skilled in oral and written communications.


5. Ability to interact with business, industry, other educational institutions, and government agencies to establish partnerships.


6. Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the classroom and curriculum.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor��s Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy Assistant or the following equivalent:


a. Occupational experience combined with education and training preparing a person for the occupation totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours.


2. Five (5) years (10,000 hours) of related work experience. Work of practice experience in Occupational Therapy with an emphasis in Pediatrics and Assistive Technology and at least one year of combined experience in a part-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities.


3. Hold a current license from the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services as an OT or OTA.


4. Hold current certification with National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).


5. Master��s degree preferred.

The position is responsible for supporting and promoting the development and engagement of infants/toddlers and their families in everyday routines. Participate on the North Central Early Intervention Evaluation team and be responsible for determining the eligibility for infants/toddlers as related to motor and other areas of development. Conducts intervention sessions and participates in team consultation in the natural environment using a strength-based primary provider approach. This position will be responsible for ongoing assessment to determine if goals/outcomes are being met on the families IFSP. Training, special instruction and assistance technology needs for our families are vital parts of this position.

This position acts as a community liaison for the Early Steps Program, networking with other providers of early intervention services, including the public school systems, private providers, and the medical system. Providing guidance and consultation to our team of ITDS to ensure that their Plans of Care (POC\\\'s) meet with EI Medicaid guidelines. This position is required to participate in in-service training programs as specified by the State Early Steps Program. Completion of this requirement must be documented in the coordinator\\\'s personnel file.

Maintains and submits intervention notes and billing information timely and accurately for records and payment. Maintains clinical materials, supplies, and work area, and submits requests for replacement or repair as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans and implements therapy programs as per physician��s orders, and in compliance with current standards and practices. Documentation: evaluates patient��s records and documents progress in patient��s chart in a timely basis. Quality: participates in continuous quality improvement and program development as assigned, to include but not limited to, data gathering, chart reviews, recommendations and implementation of quality assurance action plans.
